Dr. Freya Anderson Rivers
"Mama Freya" — the benevolent dictator — is the Director of The Genius Academy and the founder and former superintendent of Sankofa Shule, an Afrocentric Charter School in Lansing, Michigan. Under her visionary leadership, Sankofa Shule was called an "Educational Powerhouse" by U.S. News & World Report and was recognized in the Wall Street Journal.
With over thirty years of teaching experience from pre-school through college and adult education, and over 10 years in educational administration, Dr. Rivers has the phenomenal ability to turn around failing programs. Writer, entrepreneur, civil rights activist, community leader, and politician — an excellent change agent in education.

Each consultant brings decades of proven results — from Baby Geniuses in pre-school to calculus-ready fifth graders to AP English middle schoolers.
"Mama Assata" is the creator of the African Mathematical Genius curriculum — Giri So, Benne So, Bolo So, and Mathaphysics. Over twenty years teaching math, physics, computer science, and finance, she transformed students from hating math to loving it. Under her guidance, Sankofa Shule's 7th graders surpassed Lansing School District and state averages. Her students are ready for trigonometry by 5th grade and calculus by 9th.

"Mama Shari" is a genius creating others like herself. With over twenty years of experience in Language Arts across elementary, middle, high school, and university levels, she has excelled in bridging the educational gap. She taught AP English Composition to middle school students at Sankofa Shule — many passed, and one sixth grader scored a B.

"Baba Juju" brings five years of administrative experience along with over 25 years in elementary and high school teaching. He has taught math, French, and language arts at the elementary level and French at the high school level. He creates the culture and climate at a school to challenge the genius within every child.

"Mama Angie" creates Baby Geniuses. With over 10 years teaching pre-school, she transforms 3- and 4-year-olds into children who recognize letters, numerals, sounds, and words — and leave reading at and above first-grade levels. Her students learn to write sentences, compose stories, and tackle multiplication. One four-year-old graduated reading at a fifth-grade level.
